XILEMA will develop a new product for San Jose Scale
Crop Protection I 07/07/2015

Anasac, through its subsidiary Xilema, dedicated to biological pest control since 1995 and renowned for its experience in the field,  was awarded with the project “Development of a new product for the biological control of San José Scale (Diaspidiotus perniciosus)”  by the Foundation for Agrarian Innovation (FIA).

The importance of the project lies in the need to seek new alternatives to existing traditional chemical control.

Xilema, together with its partners, will develop a commercial product for the biological control of San Jose scale. The partners involved in the project are: Anasac, INRA (France), Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso, Greenwich, Viconto and Agricola Alborada.

The project methodology will consider the search for natural enemies for San Jose scale (identified molecularly), standardize conditions of breeding to select possible candidates from laboratory and field and finally the development of a commercial prototype of at least one new product of biological control, to be made available to domestic producers and eventually internationally.
